In celebration of Black History Month, WIC welcomed Overture with the Arts’ Akila and Omari Newton to speak to students on Monday, Feb. 10th. The highly interactive presentation titled Tracking Black Canada focused on the forgotten histories of early Black communities in Canada and highlighted the contributions of their most prominent members. Omari Newton’s entertaining presentation style, which included a combination of humour, slam poetry and video, kept students engaged throughout the presentation.
