WIC’S 2nd International Trip – Greece, April 2019

Twenty-two students along with three teachers traveled to Greece on a cultural and historical excursion from April 16 to 26, 2019. The trip began in Athens with a visit to the Acropolis museum followed by a venture to the top for a spectacular view of Athens, then to an old Roman Forum and of course, the Parthenon and surrounding temples. After Athens, the group embarked on their journey to three Greek Islands: Naxos, Santorini and Crete. They enjoyed quaint accommodations; breakfasts that included homemade bread and jam, local Greek cheeses and olives; a visit to a local cheese farm along with a “Greek night” at the owner’s private villa; tours of ancient castles and a visit to Knossos, the site of the myth of the Minotaur, and Crete’s biggest city Heraklion, a huge archaeological site that dates back thousands of years. The last portion of their trip included an overnight ferry back to Athens and the cities of Delphi where they explored the Temple of Apollo and Kalambaka with visits to the monasteries of Meteora. Thank you to the accompanying teachers, Mr. Fequet, Mrs. Grivas and Mme Baraby.  Memories to last a lifetime for all!
